Day-Wise Itinerary

Day 1 : Saturday – Welcome Aboard in Mumbai

  • Arrive at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (Fort Area) by 3:30 PM.
  • Traditional welcome and check-in for your journey through Maharashtra’s royal landscapes.
  • Settle into your elegant cabin aboard the Deccan Odyssey.
  • Depart Mumbai as the train sets off toward Nashik.
  • Enjoy a delectable dinner onboard and your first night on this opulent train.

Day 2 : Sunday – Sacred Nashik & Sula Vineyards

  • Begin your day in Nashik, known for its religious heritage and vineyards.
  • Walk along the sacred Godavari Ghats witnessing Hindu rituals in motion.
  • Explore vibrant local markets filled with spices, seafood, flowers, and more.
  • Visit the famous Sula Vineyards for a guided tour and wine tasting experience.
  • Learn about winemaking and sample their finest red, white, and sparkling selections.
  • Enjoy lunch amidst the vineyards before returning to the train.
  • The Deccan Odyssey departs for Aurangabad. Dinner onboard.

Day 3 : Monday – Ellora Caves & Aurangabad

  • Arrive in Aurangabad, named after the last great Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb.
  • Drive to the UNESCO-listed Ellora Caves – 34 rock-cut temples dedicated to Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain faiths.
  • Marvel at the colossal Kailash Temple, an engineering masterpiece carved from a single rock.
  • Return to the train for a leisurely lunch.
  • Enjoy the rest of your day onboard – relax with a movie, spa treatment, or traditional Indian board games.
  • Cocktail hour and dinner as the train continues toward Ajanta.

Day 4 : Tuesday – Timeless Art at Ajanta Caves

  • Morning excursion to the Ajanta Caves, a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Admire 30 rock-hewn Buddhist caves adorned with frescoes and sculptures, reflecting spiritual devotion and artistic excellence.
  • Return to the train for lunch.

Day 5 : Wednesday – Cultural Heritage of Kolhapur

  • After an early lunch onboard, begin your cultural exploration:

Day 7 : Friday – Sindhudurg, Tribal Villages & Royal Palaces

  • Arrive at Sindhudurg, a historic coastal destination in Maharashtra.

Train Tour Cost Includes

  • Overnight travel onboard train in the comfort of richly furnished private A/C sleeping chambers with ensuite bathrooms.

Booking Terms & Conditions

  • The booking will be confirmed on the receipt of 30% advance deposit of published ticket value
  • Balance 70% payment must reach us at least 70 days before the departure date with the reservation form
  • In case booking request is made less than 70 days of the departure date, we will require a one-time full advance deposit to confirm booking.
  • Prices are subject to vary in the event that the itinerary is altered or if there are additional costs, such as fuel or taxes
  • Deccan Odyssey Train Tour is Jointly OPERATED by Tourism Department of Maharashtra State Govt & The Royal Journeys (A unit of Ebix Cash)
  • Liability of Royal Indian Trains is limited to that of booking agent only

Booking Procedure

  • Check Availability: Provide the date of journey and cabin type required.
  • Booking Process: Submit passport copies of all passengers.
  • Payment Terms:
    • A 30% advance deposit of the published ticket price is required to confirm the booking.
    • Payment can be made via bank transfer credit or debit card..
    • The balance payment must be received at least 70 days before departure.
    • For bookings made less than 70 days before departure date, full payment is required at the time of booking.

Cancellation Rules

  • The Deccan Odyssey Train Tour is operated through a joint collaboration between the Tourism Department of Maharashtra Government and Ebix Cash (Private Tour Operator).
  • Royal Indian Trains acts solely as a booking agent and holds no operational liability.
  • All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing and acknowledged by us.

Cancellation Fees

  • More than 63 days before departure: 10% of the published ticket value (inclusive of taxes).
  • 62 to 48 days before departure: 20% of the published ticket value.
  • 47 to 33 days before departure: 50% of the published ticket value.
  • Less than 33 days before departure: 100% of the published ticket value (inclusive of taxes).

Special Cancellation & Refund Conditions

  • If the the Train Tour Operator cancels the scheduled departure for any reason, afull refundwill be provided
  • No refund will be issued if:
    • The guest fails to follow the scheduled itinerary or shortens their journey.
    • The guest is unable to obtain an Indian visa.
  • In case of a medical emergency, supporting medical records will be reviewed by the Train Management, and their decision will be final.
  • If a refund is applicable, Royal Indian Trains reserves the right to deduct USD 100 per person as bank processing fees.
  • Refunds will be processed based on the Indian Rupees exchange value received at the time of payment.

Important

  • The scheduled train tour departure is subject to a minimum booking of 25 passengers.
  • All foreign passport holders must obtain an Indian visa before boarding their flight from their country of residence.
  • Guests are strongly advised to purchase travel insurance in their home country prior to departure.
  • Any disputes, if arising, shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in NCR Delhi (Gurgaon), India.
